The Holy Spirit is the gift of God’s love

On 2 June 2019 in the Mother Church in Avola the sacrament of Confirmation was conferred by the Vicar General of the Diocese of Noto Mons. Angelo Giurdanella to our thirty-one confirmation candidates. “The Holy Spirit – said the Vicar General during the homily – is the gift of God’s love that comes to dwell in our hearts and invites us to the mission and witness of the Love that finds its origin in God. We must all of us being the face of God, the first personal encounter with him, – exclaimed Mons Giurdanella – for this reason the whole Christian community with its charisms and ministries is called to show the presence of God among us “.

Being filled with the Gift of the Spirit

With this awareness that our parish community welcomed and accompanied, with silent emotion and participation, 19 boys and 12 adults who received the Sacrament of Confirmation. In this journey of Christian initiation, our candidates have chosen to follow Christ, to allow themselves to be filled with his Holy Spirit to be true witnesses of faith, living as Jesus taught us in his Gospel.

Let us entrust ourselves to the power of the Holy Spirit

We entrust to the gift of the Spirit all those who have received the Sacrament of Confirmation, so that the seven gifts of the Holy Spirit sustain each of them along the path of life.
